It’s been since September of 2009 and I’m finally just finding my legs here in Toronto. Times are changing and I’m coming off the first run of a small introduction to a greeting card line, not my own but a company called Paper Lineage Greetings. I’m simply the printer and well maybe I had a few other roles but the majority was pulling the arm of the Pilot and pinching lead type between my fingers. It was quite astounding that I hand typeset 48 cards and printed from some very old cuts in just around 4 days. Those old cuts are seriously hit or miss. Subtle and confusing. Do I add more tape to the rails? Do I allow more than 20 minutes of trying to make it look good when I have over 100+ vintage cuts to choose from? I’ll post pictures of some of these once I’m told they are going to be distributed to the masses. In any case… I’m making a short story unnecessarily long. For anyone who reads this, thank you and I’m going to make a true effort to be proactive in my writing and current work postings. I do have a twitter account of which I’ve been posting some inspirations and well, just cool things I find. Here’s that link: http://twitter.com/angrysasha

That’s all for now! – David printer & creative director

Hi again,

Another post now at nearly the end of May. Wrapped up a very lengthy wedding invite project where I printed a good portion of Lake Minnetonka on a details card. I’m winding down from a crazy spring. Above you will see one of the fun projects I’ve been creating. I worked with the amazing photographer, E. Katie Holm on creating a box/package that would hold anywhere from 10-15 photographs similar in size to playing cards. These were done using a beautiful rich 80# Cover stock from Mohawk Paper’s Beckett line. We also printed “WOMEN WARRIORS” in gold and I have to say these looked like a rich bar of dark chocolate when they were finished. I’ll get other photos up soon. I’m taking on some other wedding endeavors and trying to think about some possible template offerings to help people stay within budget. With letterpress it’s so easy to indulge. Busy days are keeping the blogs short but I hope I can show some consistency and perhaps if there were any questions you wanted answered to demystify this lost art then I’d love to answer those as well. Thanks again for reading.

So how long has it been? Seriously, for something I really wanted to update regularly I’m doing a pretty bad job at every 2-3 months. Well life is what life is and it’s been hectic but it means I’ve been busy and I’m not complaining about that. So much new work has been making it’s way through the doors and the web site is in much need of a face lift which I like to think is almost ready for unveiling but of course there are more refinements to be made. I wanted to thank my new friends at Lovely Mpls. for being awesome and excited to take my Vandercook press. I simply did not give it the attention it deserves and with 3 presses it seemed unfair that one should feel left out. I think it will be perfect for their needs and now my C&P’s are feeling extra special. So a lot of changes are upon us in the next month or so and I am wrapping up 4 jobs within that time along with the parent company DW media doing a ton of design and web work as well. We hope you will keep in touch over the summer and let us know if you like the new site when it goes live. Also, we will have an online shop, however basic but some cards and writing kits will be available. – To your health!

Hello.

Happy New Year! I am in a flurry of activities here as I prepare for the first anniversary coming up in April. I want to thank you for taking these precious moments to read my little blog and keep tabs on this new little studio in the Lyn/Lake area of Minneapolis. A little gathering is planned for early February and invites are going to be in the mail soon so keep your eyes peeled for those by next week. I’m in the midst of getting some Save The Date postcards printed which I’m extremely proud of.. not only for the design elements but for the fact that I’m using a matte varnish which I had very little resources to educate myself using it on an antique press. Well, it’s fantastic and I think my friend Linda at ThinkDesign Group will agree as we did her gift tags and postcards using this varnish and they look just amazing. I will post some images of this project as well. A new web site will also launch in early February as it is about time. More news soon. Think Babushka!

Also in the works for 2009 is a line of stationery called “par avion.” This new line is intended for none other than a pen to paper… Something we have found ourselves even forgetting to do. Remember that feeling of finding something besides a bill or catalog in your mail box? Handwritten letters, what a novel idea! Stay safe and warm! Pictures of work in progress to follow.

After much frustration, it appears that my radiators have decided to work all day rather than just in the morning. You have to love these old buildings! So I’m writing today to let everyone know that it looks like my plans for a holiday open house will probably occur sometime in mid to late January. Still a lot to get done before then but I’m confident it should all fall into place. In other news, I will be pressing a poetry broadside in the next 2 weeks and will post pictures of the work in progress. Thanks for reading! More to follow soon.

Already in the midst of autumn and we are now after 6 months since opening our doors, able to truly focus on our web presence. We hope this little ‘blog’ helps keep everyone in the loop about what’s going on, what we do and what we are trying to accomplish. We truly believe in keeping the imagination and it’s practical applications alive. We feel that we can accomplish something truly beautiful through the use of this wonderful art form. We hope that as you ponder… “Who is this Angry Sasha character?” … is this is a young child having a tantrum or is it an old man printing the next manifesto in a small Siberian village, you might be curious enough to contact us and find out.
